Okay everyone. There’s been some controversy at facebook about these chips. It seems that most people (and I mean most in the most extreme way) seem to hate these doritos. I wonder why. They just say it’s gross and horrible. At least some people have tried it out. I know the name is not exactly re-assuring, but it’s curious. That’s how Meesh felt, and I share this sentiment.
So, because of all the arguments and craziness, I now have to open a poll! Poll is after the bump.
I totally remember the GREEN tour. We all went to this concert, “the gang” and we had a blast. I remember a bunch of us going to this concert, and I think it was when I first met Kate (at least I think so). I don’t know why I remember it like this.
I remember we were dancing in the aisles of the Spectrum, which is no longer called the spectrum, I believe. I’m sure old school philly-ites still call it the Spectrum, but it’s known as the Wachovia Center I think? Perhaps someone from Philly can set me straight since I live on the opposite side of the states now. Anyways, we were in the aisles dancing just like in the video. I totally remember that and I remember I didn’t feel like a dork at all. Which was a change.
I think this concert may have been my first “real” concert. I say “real” because I had seen a number of concerts at Six Flags Great Adventure when I worked there. I heard Bon Jovi at GA too. I say “heard” because I was working and the concert stadium was very close. But I digress.
I don’t remember if I knew what to expect from my first concert in a real concert stadium, but I was reluctant to have any fun I think. I remember that much. But in the end, I had a blast. I think that might have been one of the best times I ever had, and that’s saying something because I’ve had a lot of fun in my life.
It just wouldn’t be a soundtrack for my life if I didn’t at least include the video for the song. I remember there was a lot of controversy about this song, something about the nipples and Michael Stipe just had to show his. It was pretty damn funny I think. Enjoy. (yes, there is an ad before the video – live with it, you can wait to see the video) Video after the bump.
Ok, since Melanie was in town and she reminded me that I love ramen, I had to have some more ramen – again. This time it’s slightly a bit different on the toppings.
I’ve spiced it up a bit with some seaweed in the back, and also making it look a little “prettier” I suppose. It’s supposed to add to the presentation. That the green looking things in the back of the bowl.
I also added some spinach which I had blanched and seasoned with ponzu and sesame seeds. Pretty tasty on it’s own, even better in my ramen. It’s on the left.
On the right I added corn, because you have to add corn. Ever since I had it at a ramen shop in Japan, I totally fell in love.
Finally I added some bamboo shoots. It was a total last minute thing. It didn’t taste as good as I thought at first, but it did absorb some of the ramen soup, and it made it taste a little better. I’ll try better next time.
No charsiu, since I have made any (which makes me think I should), and actually no protein either. I don’t have any tofu anymore. This goes to show you that ramen isn’t just something college kids eat because they’re broke. Ramen can be a somewhat fancy meal if you wish, and top it off with a variety of items. Which reminds me, I should buy some bean sprouts for ramen…
This post is actually for Melanie. She sent me a post of her highly modified ramen dish, which was essentially a “big ass cup” of ramen. So I had to take a picture of a “real” bowl of ramen. It was recommended to me by her daughter for me to deliver the ramen to them, but alas, I don’t have the mad skills to make a bunch of ramen and deliver it without spillage happening. Besides, I only have 2 ramen bowls. So they’ll have to live with just a picture for now.
To recap what’s in the ramen bowl, I have corn, green onions and some tofu. I didn’t have any real protein (chashu) to put in there, so I settled with some tofu with some katsuobushi. It was actually pretty tasty if I say so myself.
This ramen is just a plain shoyu (soy sauce) flavored ramen. Pretty simple stuff. Everyone knows that the best part of ramen is the toppings anyways. Oh, well, maybe not everyone. But you know now!
It looks like the people over at wordpress have been busy little bees working on the next point version of wordpress. They’ve released the Beta 1 version of 3.0 for our perusal. However, you’ve got to remember that this is a beta release. That means pretty much bugs. So please, don’t install it over your current installation. Test it out, but never use this in a production environment.
Just had to tell you before you got all happy. Did you even make it this far, or just go to the post to get your download?
Ok, Meesh and I saw this commercial today and wow, this girl is so damn cute. I had to share it, even though I’m probably shouldn’t be thinking about posting anything. Look for a post in the future at Being Diabetic for an explanation of what went on the past few days.
I have to say that the first time I actually heard this song was probably back in 1984 or so. I hadn’t heard 38 Special’s Caught up in you back in 1982 when it first came out. I heard it when one of my friends gave me a copy of a mix tape he had made for his girlfriend. I have to admit, this song brings back memories of that time, when I was going to high school in New Jersey.
My friend, who had later moved up to New Jersey, had gave me that mix tape when he visited me from where he was living in Georgia. (Yeah, I moved around and lived everywhere in those days, we were a military family after all.)
I just loved this song. It just reminded me too of a girl I had a crush on. I remember it was a while before I got around to asking her out. I talked to her everyday, we were pretty decent friends, but it was one of those high school things. Of course, I think we went on one date and that was it. If that was even a date! LOL
Those teenage years, you have to wonder how those same people are doing now. Video after the bump.
So tonight we watched Paranormal Activity finally. I have to say that an episode of Ghost Hunter might have been more interesting than this movie. I think I spent more time complaining about the boyfriend being an idiot than I did wondering about the paranormal “activity”. seriously, is anyone as stupid or idiotic as this boyfriend? Who is as stupidly “macho” as this guy? Do these guys really exist that they are too proud to ask for help because “this is my house, I will fix the problem”. Come on seriously?
The other thing was the amount of nothing going on. I understand that you have to develop the story. But you know, there was so much hype about this movie that we already knew the gist of the story, we knew there was a very bad ghost (or demon), and we didn’t need to have about 70% of this movie. The only thing I got from all the boring parts was the fact that the boyfriend was a total ass.
Now, I know I gave the movie 2 stars on Netflix.com, but I was really tempted to give it 1 star. The only redeeming factor to this movie was that there were some really creepy moments in there. And the end? Creeeeepy. But I have to say the creepiness was too few and too far in between.
I think this may be the first movie I’ve seen where the beginning sucked and the last 5 minutes rocked. Normally it’s reversed.
I remember way back when, living in Japan, we’d heard of this thing called MTV. We were astonished they finally made a channel dedicated just to music videos. So we had some friends send a VHS tape of some of the music videos to us in Japan. It was awesome.
The first video I saw, was Pretty Woman by Van Halen. I thought the video was incredibly hilarious and was just awesome. I loved it. I thought this was a wonderful thing that MTV did, and playing music videos all day and night with the occasional music news was great.
Of course, as we all know now, they don’t really play any videos anymore and instead have all those reality shows which just embarrasses a lot of people. But I digress.
I distinctly remember standing in my friend’s living room watching this video with a few friends. I think all of us were pretty impressed. My friend who had the video had just moved to Japan, so he got to see music videos and the real MTV already so he wasn’t too impressed.
Here is the original video, hopefully you enjoy it! Remember, this video was banned at one point in time!
