Another new skin

Because I’m never really satisfied with how this site looks, I’ve already created another skin, called “cloudrise”. You can select it from the skins dropdown in the menu side box. This one I created out of a necessity to change something on this site that I thought needed it. I will never be satisfied with how the site looks I guess. I’ll love a design for about an hour and then the next I’m already thinking of something new. Go figure. :)

Well, the weather has been awesome for the past couple days. I mean simply AWESOME. it’s been in the 80’s, which isn’t too hot. (of course, I did live in the desert for 2 years in southern california so I did get used to hot.) The clouds have been sparse, and Mt. Rainier looms in the distance. I love it.

New skin, new times.

Ok, so I whipped up a new skin last night. It’s taking me less effort everytime I have to create a new skin. I love the “changing the look of the site with just CSS alone” look. :) Of course, this does not change the wording, nor does it change the content on each page. It just changes where they are on any given page. :) Gotta love it. If you want to see the new skin, look to the bottom of the screen and select the “souls polished…” skin. I hope you like it! :)

Finally

So now things are pretty settled. I’ve finally got skins working correctly. The problem appeared to be that I had to set the path for the cookie. For those of you using cookies with your templates, it may be wise to also include the “/” path to your cookie. It may or may not work. I saw erratic problems with it. I’m sure it has something to do with the way EE sets up their friendly URLs.

More Schtuff.

I’ve just added the “show/hide” layer thingie for extended entries. I know I’ll need this in the future because I blow a lot of steam! Thanks to jennifer posting that method for MT. Adapting it to EE was pretty simple!

I’m still working on the skinning of the site. I seem to be having some issues with cookies, so if you go there and choose a skin and it goes back to the Ayu skin, then that’s why. I’ve tried this on Firefox, Opera, IE, and Safari, and they all have the same results! If anyone has any thoughts on that let me know.

Skinning ExpressionEngine

Ok, so I’ve determined you can’t use the css template method to skin ExpressionEngine. Actually if anyone has any ideas how it’s done, please let me know. I figure the reason is because the EE variables are parsed before PHP routines are. Which makes sense.

New Skin…

I finally finished my latest skin. In case you’re wondering who that girl is, it’s Hamasaki Ayumi. I just can’t get over how easy it is to create skins right now. There are a few things I wish I could do, but that would require a lot of customization and well, I’m almost too lazy to implement the old style (prior pMachine) method of skinning my site.

I am now skinned

I now have skins. Thanks to jules, I was able to get it going. I only created one new skin but I’ll be making more soon. I think this might be one of my favourites I’ve made so far! You can change it here.

Skinning…

If you’re seeing some really funky layouts on this site, it’s because I’m trying to work on skins. I just need to rearrange a few things here and there. Sorry about the problems.
