Oddness

Found a few things funky with the Recent Tunes script. After a while, the script would stop working. However, I found that after deleting the prefs, it would start working again. After a few more tries, I realized that by editing the plist for Recent Tunes, if you delete the history of recent tunes, it would be fine again, this time without throwing away all the prefs. (which is obviously good!)

There could be many reasons why that’s happening, but I’ll be quick to just point it at Tiger. I’m sure there’s something different in how it handles some things. Regardless, I now know what to do in case it stops working yet again.

I’ve changed a few things to the site as well. I’ve changed the side menu on the side so that all main side items are expandable/collapsible. On top of this, it will set a cookie that will remember what your last settings were, so the next time you visit the site, it will expand/collapse the appropriate section.

Added a menu system as well so you don’t feel “trapped” within a comment page. There really aren’t many pages to visit on this site, only the main page and the comment page for a particular entry. I’m looking to put an archive in as well.

Well, today I decided to play with applescript. Nifty little thing, it is! Definitely want to learn more about it. The inspiration initially came from frustration of why the Recent Tunes script wasn’t working. Trying to get the recent track of itunes can get frustrating. Apparently there’s no real simple way via applescript to get the current track if the track is part of a shared library. All songs on my mac are actually played from my Windows iTunes server that has massive storage space.

So far, I’m loving applescript though. Damn handy!
