Linklist Module Progress

Well, since I’ve been actively working on this module and have had 1 beta test of the module in use so far, (lisa-jill) I’d like to post some progress of what exactly what I’ve been working on for this module. It’s been kinda cool, and kinda neat, and I think I’ve touched a small tip on the iceberg that Rick and Paul work on. I have a feeling I won’t be requesting too many changes for a while. LOL

Anyways, I digress. On to the progress!

Hi. My name is …. A. Nonymous.

I was reading up on Robin Jean’s, since I haven’t been there in a while (not to mention all the other sites I haven’t been to recently), and stumbled across this entry with a quote about anonymity:

Anonymity is not neccessarily bad. For example, it disguises differences in race, sex, age, and physical appearance. To the extent that these items interfere with fairness, anonymity may serve as an equalizer. Furthermore, people may be encouraged to reveal their true feelings if they know their indentity will not be revealed.

Just thought I’d share a bit of enlightenment I received today with you.

It’s Your Birthday! Plug-in v1.2

Apparently, there was a huge flaw in my logic on trying to figure out if any given day was a member’s birthday. This is now fixed, and should be working fine.

Download the new plugin from the downloads section on the left of the home page and just replace it in your plugins folder.

Ok so, the lunar eclipse was tonight. Missed it. I have really tall trees around my house, and I couldn’t get up off this lazy ass to go anywhere to see it. Go figure, it sounds so like me, I know. zannah saw it though. I hope someone took some pictures. I’d still like to see it.

Cards lost. But, they’re still National Champs! :) You know, I’m still got that special place in my heart for the Cards. The first Cards game I went to, our section was the section of the day. Can’t beat that! But you know, Mariners are my team now. Go Ichiro!

So a week or so ago, I bought the Febreeze Scentstories. I’m a big fan of febreeze anyways. :) I thought to blog about this, but I got behind the grind, and forgot all about it. Until Lynda blogged about it. I love the idea that you change the scent for whatever mood your in. At first, when I bought it, I was like “disc’s? This thing plays music and it gives out good scents? Sweet!” I thought it would be incredibly cool if the discs also featured music that set the mood. I wasn’t disappointed to find out there was no music though. I love it! I only have one disc right now, but one of these days I’ll go get some more. :)

Also wanted to take time to say that the DVD database is back up. :)

Member Info Plugin

I’m releasing a new plugin, the Member Info Plugin. This plugin is basically a small quick and dirty plugin I needed to use to display various data from the exp_members table. It’s straightforward and relatively easy to use.

More details are in the README.txt file. You can download the plugin from the downloads section of the front page on the left hand side.

Things are slow…

I just realized yesterday that I have forgotten to update the layout of the dvd database. For that matter, I haven’t bought a DVD in a while. Actually, Meesh bought Aladdin, but that’s not in the db yet either. I think I’ll have to get the DVD db back up sometime soon. You can actually still view it with the old skinning, but it may look pretty damn funky. I’ll be revamping those templates real soon I think.

Meanwhile, it’s getting colder and colder each day. The sun is rising later and later each day as well. The days are definitely getting shorter. Soon we’ll have to turn our clocks back one hour for daylights savings. Why must we change our clocks, btw? Do other countries follow the same practice? I surely don’t remember turning back/forward clocks in Japan in the past. Strange.

It’s hump day. When’s the weekend?

Module : Links List

Okay, I thought I’d unveil the somewhat exact specifics to the new module I am currently working on:

- CP Interface to maintain your link lists.

- Multiple link lists for different types of links. (this somewhat supercedes a need for categories.)

- XFN support

- Status for links within a link list.

- Visitor capable of entering links. Ala “suggest a link”. (I’m thinking this should be member only, thoughts?)

- URL clickthrough counter.

- Updated information for link. (via weblogs.com/blogger.com changes.xml)

- URL favicon support.

I’m also considering RSS support, but I’m still on the fence about this. (i.e. it requires a lot more work hehe)

Any other suggestions for this type of module?

Modules and Plugins?

Ok, I’ve been out of the loop for a while. For the few of you who still visit this site, I’d like to know what kind of modules and plugins are you looking for?

Here’s a few things on my list:

  • Weather Plugin
  • Link List Module
    • Features:
    • XFN support
    • Update times
    • Favicon support
  • Revamping a few old plugins of mine (because they need it)

Any suggestions, thoughts, etc?

Fright Night

So tonight, we went out with a few friends to go see The Grudge. It’s a remake of the Japanese film, Ju-On: The Grudge. As a matter of a fact, it’s the same director. :) They just decided to make it with Sarah Michelle Gellar in it. (More about this in a second.)

It’s raining…

I love the rain. The rain brings me back memories of being a child, and playing out in the yard, getting wet and quite muddy. Getting scolded by my mom because I tracked the mud and the water into the house, and having some fear, but knowing that my mom really wasn’t too mad as she would dry me off with a towel and tell me I would catch a cold. It reminds me of the times hanging out with my friends, just chewing the fat, and hanging out because it was too dreary to go out and do something. The smell of rain brings back memories of a my youth as a teenager, and it gives me that nostalagic feeling. I love the rain.

There are many different types of rain. But today it’s a misty type of rain. It’s the rain I love the best. Today’s rain reminds me of a time when I lived in Southern California, and went to the Rennaisance Faire. There were mists of water coming out of the stands, which gave it the effect of misty rain. It makes me think of that day spending time with my friends and eating an empanada.

Yeah, I’m feeling a bit nostalgic today.
