Looks like with the new update of EE, my birthday plugin has some ooky bugs in it. I’ve gone and fixed what I could, and that seems to work.

Let me know if you have issues with it still! You can download the latest version (1.1 as of this post) from the left!

EE Update

If you didn’t know already, pMachine has released an update for ExpressionEngine yesterday. You can find the information for updating your install here.

I don’t need a title.

Ok, since I haven’t posted recently, I will today.

Saturday, went to the Puyallup Fair. Tons of fun. We rode a few rides. We went there with Meesh’s brother and his wife. Her brother can be a riot! :)

We first rode the Viking boat thingie. That was fun! We also went on the Extreme something or another. I forgot what it was called, but basically, they just drop you from the sky after flinging you up what felt like 20 stories. (I’m sure it wasn’t that high at all) Now that was pretty damn incredible. We also rode one of the wooden rollercoasters. About that time, I was hurting. My back wasn’t agreeing with me, so I had to pass on rides.

Also had an empanada while I was there. Doesn’t seem like a fair without one these days. The last time I had an empanada was at the Ren Fair in SoCal. Now that tasted good! :)

We later went out to this one sports bar with microbrewery (because holy cow, they’ve got a lot of them here) and ate dinner. Ok, I don’t remember the name of the place, but they had the best artichoke heart dip ever. I loved it. Meesh’s brother commenced putting it on just about all the appetizers (we ordered the sampler platter, so it had everything), which was a pretty good idea.

They also had a 1lb hamburger. Holy crap, that was HUGE. Needless to say, after eating all that I did on saturday, had to have leftovers. If I hadn’t eaten anything else that day (especially the gigantic appetizer) I would have been able to eat that burger in one sitting I think. It made me feel better that Meesh’s brother couldn’t eat it all his though. Although he did eat a lot more. hehe.

It was a pretty fun day. :)

Down with Ascend/Lucent

Scenario: We have a Ascend/Lucent (since Lucent bought Ascend a ways back) GRF 400. It stopped working. No problem! We have a backup replacement unit. (which cost a good bundle, let me tell you.) Oops. We don’t remember how to get it restored to what the old GRF was set to. No problem, we’ll get support from Ascend/Lucent. It’s no longer under maintenance contract, so we’ll have to pay to get support. No problem. We bust out the Amex card. So we call up Lucent on Friday about 3 to 4pm. We want to get tech support for this GRF and get it up and running.

That’ll be $20,000, then $500 per hour after that.

Um, is that canadian dollars? Because that is way too much. Even the “evil” Microsoftt does not charge that for technical support. I mean $20,000 is a bit high. But tack on that $500/hour too. Holy crap, I want to work for that company if they’re actually gettting that kind of money for non maintenance contract support.

So we want to buy a contract. Mind you that this is the sales guy. Does he want to go home on a friday? Sure he does. So he tells us that we can’t get one made up until Monday. Bull$hit.

So we took out the GRF and probably will set fire to it in the parking lot outside. Good Riddance, Ascend/Lucent. You’ve lost one customer. Not that it matters to them. One customer isn’t going to kill them if they’re tech support costs that much for routers.

So why all this fuss? Keep reading.
