So I was not close enough to feel the earthquake that occured about 17 miles southwest of Mt. Rainier. It was only about 3.9 on the scale. I haven’t felt an earthquake in a while, so I guess I was just disappointed that I didn’t feel it. When I lived in Japan, it was a pretty common occurance, and I suppose after you get used to it, you kinda miss it. I suppose!
I remember the last earthquake I felt was the Kobe earthquake in Japan. While not devastating where I was at, (it was about a 3 on the scale) in Kobe, it was quite horrible. I was almost dispatched by command (Branch Clinic Iwakuni) to go up there to double up as a Preventive Medicine liasion and translator for the American troops. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the Japanese refused any assistance from the American’s, saying they had everything under control. (at least no American troops from Iwakuni that I knew of at least.)
