WoW Beta

I’ve been accepted to the World of Warcraft Beta. It’s been good knowing everyone. ; )

Seriously, I hope I actually find time to really get to play this game.

Missed the earthquake…damn.

So I was not close enough to feel the earthquake that occured about 17 miles southwest of Mt. Rainier. It was only about 3.9 on the scale. I haven’t felt an earthquake in a while, so I guess I was just disappointed that I didn’t feel it. When I lived in Japan, it was a pretty common occurance, and I suppose after you get used to it, you kinda miss it. I suppose!

I remember the last earthquake I felt was the Kobe earthquake in Japan. While not devastating where I was at, (it was about a 3 on the scale) in Kobe, it was quite horrible. I was almost dispatched by command (Branch Clinic Iwakuni) to go up there to double up as a Preventive Medicine liasion and translator for the American troops. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the Japanese refused any assistance from the American’s, saying they had everything under control. (at least no American troops from Iwakuni that I knew of at least.)

It’s Friday!

Oh my. If I had a dime for everytime I needed this link I’d be rich man. : ) (via Gnome-girl)

There’s this one friend I have. Well more than one, but this one sticks out. They always ask me the most ridiculous questions that I know could easily be found via Google. I will now give them this link from now on as an answer. : )

Moderated Comments?

So I’ve been considering lately that I should just go ahead and enable comment moderation. Why do you ask? Well, captcha is all well and good, however, people can still post spam coments. It’s entirely possible. With comment moderation, I would get to choose whether or not it shows up on the site. However, if you’re a member of this site, then the comment will go through automatically, without moderation. So if you’re not logged in, then you’ll have to wait to see your comment. If you are logged in, you will see immmediatly.

So what say you as the people who visit and make comments? Would having to become a member to have your comment posted immediately deter you entirely from making comments at all?

Updated: Moderation? I think I’ll pass for now. Hopefully they make it so captcha is not required for members though. That would be awful nice. : )

Who watched Last Comic Standing last night? I for one am not surprised at how things turned out. I guess it’s inevitable that there will be “alliances” formed if you stick people into one house, knowing that someone will have to get voted off. I personally think that the elimination should just be based on how funny they are, and not how much they hate each other. I mean seriously, it was getting pretty rough in there. They’re all pretty damn funny. I just can’t seem to agree with a lot going on there.

Because I love these lists

(via chickybabe via Jasra)

Gotta love the “you know you’re from…” things. : ) Since I have always considered myself a Jersey-boy, (I spent most of my teens and then some there) I will do this “you know you’re from New Jersey if…” (Google for “you know you’re from [your state]” and then bold any that apply to you.)

  • You’ve been seriously injured at Action Park.
  • You know that the only people who call it “Joisey” are from New York (usually The Bronx) or Texas.
  • You don’t think of citrus when people mention “The Oranges.”
  • You know that it’s called “Great Adventure,” not “Six Flags.”(Of course, explaining to anyone about GA outside of the tri-state area, you have to call it six flags.)
  • You’ve ordered a hard roll with butter for breakfast.
  • You’ve known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.

Most Commented Entries

Ok, I’ve created an updated Most Commented Entries plug-in. The original was known as Popular Posts, and hasn’t been updated in a while. I was requested to make a new one by a couple folks, so here it is. Please view the README for usage. You can download it from the download section to the left.

Enjoy!

It’s hot baby, it’s hot!

I’ve been looking around to see what products are out there for my Ti Powerbook. As many know, the Titaniums get incredibly hot. I’m not too concerned about my legs, but I don’t want my laptop to get too hot from use. I do a lot of file transferring and all my E-mail on it, and I’m not too keen on losing it because of heat issues.

I’ve been looking at a few like the Coolpad, and it just looks like all it does is raise the back of the laptop off the desk. Well, I already do that with a small dowel i run across the bottom back of my laptop. I’m just wondering if that’s enough! If anyone can recommend a good “cooler” for the laptop, that would be great! : )

Okay, so here’s the idea

Since Paul released the CSS Switcher Plug-in, I’ve been wanting to use it. So I’ve decided again to change my method of skinning and follow Lynda’s suggestion of using PHP output instead of PHP input for my templates. (it makes sense this way and much more flexible for certain things like showing inline comments on the front page.)

So in the coming few days you might experience some really wierd changes and looks to the site. I’m going to be testing out a few things, and hopefully it will turn out ok. I’ve also been not liking my skins. The minimalist is really funky with the images and aligning and such, which is something I really need to fix. [thewebsite] skin seems to be pretty stable. I just need to make sure I can make it part of my new skinning method.

You know. This almost seems like work.

I just watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with Meesh, and we had a great time! I couldn’t believe just how much it’s like the book. Actually, all the movies have been so far. There are minimal changes, and a few things were omitted, but I felt that they didn’t really need to be in the movie. Sure they were entertaining facts and history, but I honestly don’t think they affected the story that much. Especially if you never read the books. I’m gonna have to pick up the rest of the books, as this is where I left off.

If you liked any of the previous Harry Potter movies, then I think you’ll like this one as well. Don’t let the fact that the director has changed fool you. I believe even J.K. Rowling mentioned that this story is a bit darker. And they do get darker. I’m definitely buying the DVD when it is released. : )
