Ok. I now have SimpleComments beta 1 working here on this site (EE Blog). There is one big issue:
Formatting. The way we can put certain tags and display comments with our own format makes it very hard to format a trackback entry. Because of the way we have it set up, It’s not quite as easy as putting them in and going with it. I’m up for any suggestions on how to accomplish a “standard” on how to display trackbacks within comments.
That’s the only problem that I have right now. Does anyone have any comments about that? To see it in action, just click on the comments of any trackback entry and you’ll see what I mean.

I would try to make it as close to a comment as possible. Maybe just put the word Trackback: in bold before the excerpt, then below it, put “Pinged by (Referrer Name) at (Timestamp)” in the same style as your comment info.
For example, like this:
(Trackback) Blah blah blah blah….
Pinged by Psychodaisy X on 2/27/04 at 8:45am
Yeah i’ve already set this up. :) you can format it any way you want now, after I figured out how to do the conditionals.
I haven’t had time to download this and check it out yet; I’ll do that tonight. Here’s a question: does it include a combined total that you can display on your main page?
In other words, instead of
(5) Comments | (3) Trackbacks
you could display
(8) Comments & Trackbacks
Hmm, no I didn’t put that in. that would be a part of the comments module. I only display the comments/trackbacks… that would be a bit more involved.
but i bet that could be made. I’d just have to think about that.
