DVD Database

So, just to play around and check out the power of ExpressionEngine, I created a new “weblog”. Basically I’ve been wanting to have a DVD database online. I’m not sure why, just because. Probably because cybr started one, I just had to do that myself. But using EE, I created a new weblog and voila, I now have a DVD database driven by EE. You can find it here.

The layout is ugly, but I’m still working on that. The essentials are already there! I’m so impressed with EE. I’m thinking about putting together a weblog for recipes as well. That might be interesting to come with all the custom fields!

Recent Comments Updated!

Ok, I’ve changed a few things in the Recent Comments Add on. Now, which you can see is active here, if you the user has a webpage, then their name will link to it. If you click on the date, it will link it right to the comment itself. Since I couldn’t seem to find the EE variable for comment_id, I ended up using the date/time as a unique identifier and put that into the anchor link.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day! Normally I don’t care, but this year, having a Friday the 13th right into Valentine’s Day just kinda gives me warm fuzzies. :)

Jennifer put together this awesome tutorial on how to show and hide the extended portion of an entry for MT. So I took that and adapted that to EE. It was not as bad as I thought. Here is the original post. I didn’t write this script, but I do understand it so if you need help implementing it on your site, let me know.

Recent Comments Add-on

I finally got my recent comments in last night after hunting around the EE database. I simply used the same one I created for pMachine Pro, with modifications to the table and field names. This does require adding a new Template, whether in a new group or in the weblog group.

Disclaimation Proclamation: I can’t guarantee this will work on your site, but I’m willing to bet that if you asked me I might be able to help you. :)
