Matrix Revolutions

No, there are no spoilers. Only pure speculation and theories.

Matrix Revolutions. What is it all about? Some thoughts:

Matrix Revolutions will start where Reloaded left off, with Neo continuing to be in a coma while the remaining humans are evading Sentinels as much as possible. Just throw out the theory of the “Matrix within the Matrix” for a moment and follow me on this.

The Matrix is dying. Slowly, they are losing power, because of the choice Neo has chosen. Not only are there no more humans left than a handful in Zion, there are no humans left now to power the Matrix. The “rogue” or “exile” programs, fighting for existence now have to come to terms with the Architect, to make him logically see that humans are crucial to their survival. Failing this, they decide that they must overthrow the Architect and attempt to contact Neo in the “real world”.

With assistance from various programs and machines, they are able to revive Neo, and plead with him to help the exiles reform a new Matrix, with a new power source and an agreement that humans will no longer be enslaved. Neo, wary of this, of course will balk at the opportunity (or trap) and considers the proposal.

Meanwhile, inside the Matrix, Agent Smith, in his arduous search for Neo and his purpose proceeds to turn as many programs (or even leftover humans that may have survived the choice) into duplicates of himself. Quickly, the world of the Matrix becomes a sea of Smiths, fighting to take over.

Finally Neo decides he must do something in order to save humanity. There is no choice but to go into the Matrix and finally put things back into place. Upon entring the Matrix however, he is assaulted with visions of an apocalyptic world, overrun by copies of Smith.

With the assistance of many remaining “exile” programs, Neo finally overcomes Smith, only to realize that it hasn’t really become any better. They fail to find the architect for many reasons, one major reason being the fact that the keymaker no longer exists.

Finally work is underway to create a newer and much better Matrix. With both human and machines working together, construction is completed ahead of schedule. However, there are still other rogue programs out there that do not care to live in this “perfect world”. And so the war starts on again. A viscious cycle.
