Just when you thought Microsoft had everyone beat, out comes Lindows. Lindows looks to be a Linux/Windows hybrid. In super basic terms, it’s Linux that can run windows applications. I know what you’re thinking, Microsoft won’t allow that to happen!
Well they are attempting to prevent Lindows.com from using the terms “Lindows.com” or “LindowsOS”. No, it doesn’t really make much sense, but it’s Microsoft, who said they had to?
It does look a bit promising, but I’m still not quite keen on installing it yet. I couldn’t really find a pricing on the OS, but I didn’t really look very hard. I just couldn’t believe pricing was not mentioned in the FAQ.
Regardless, I’m glad that someone is attempting to make it easier for people to choose Operating systems. (aside from buying Mac or PC) If you’re into new things, check them out and install it. According to Lindows.com, you can install it right next to a windows installation, essentially a “dual-boot” option, so you can choose which to start up in. How keen!
